Chitra is looking to hire an Equipment Specialist - Auxiliary Systems for Surface or Submarine in the Portsmouth, VA area.
General Knowledge
- Strong administrative skills with complementary equipment maintenance experience.
- Ability to apply fleet maintenance experience to clear, concise, and technically accurate Maintenance Requirement Cards.
- Background and experience with U.S. Navy Fleet and Shore Activities regarding the maintenance and repair of shipboard and shore-based equipment systems, commodity classes, and subsystems.
- Understanding of U.S. Navy organization levels and ship and submarine maintenance and repair policy, procedures, and practices.
- Familiarity with basic technical and administrative policies, procedures, and practices associated with the Navy Maintenance and Material Management (3-M) System and the Planned Maintenance System (PMS).
- Knowledge of engineering and scientific principles and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical manuals as they pertain to the maintenance and repair of shipboard and shore-based Navy equipment systems, commodity classes, and subsystems.
- Communication skills to communicate orally and in writing with a variety of internal personnel and numerous contractors and representatives of other organizations on wide-ranging, controversial, sensitive, and serious equipment problems.
- Digital literacy with advanced skills.
- Broad knowledge of how to use the machine to accomplish goals with the ability to use information and communication technologies to find, evaluate, create, and communicate information.
- Ability to independently research and problem-solve using digital technology.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using digital tools and software to facilitate collaboration.
- The ability to adapt very quickly to new technology.

- Understanding of shipboard auxiliary systems and how they interface.

- Steering/Diving Systems

Position Requirements
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug screen as a condition of employment.
- Must have a valid United States Driver’s License.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite programs, such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
