Reports to: Head of HR

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (fully on site, with some travel required)

About The Role

The Learning & Development Manager is responsible for the hands-on delivery, embedding, and continuous improvement of training across the business. This role ensures that learning is practical, consistently delivered, and directly improves performance in both retail and support functions. The focus is on execution, coaching, and embedding capability—not just programme design. Working closely with the Head of HR and operational leaders, this role will identify capability gaps and deliver targeted training solutions that drive measurable improvements in performance. This is a highly practical role requiring direct engagement with teams. This role is critical in strengthening capability across the business through practical, hands-on learning and development. By focusing on delivery and embedding, the Learning & Development Manager will drive measurable improvements in performance and support business growth.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging training across retail and support functions
  • Provide in-store coaching to embed sales, customer experience, and leadership behaviours
  • Support onboarding delivery to ensure new starters are set up for success
  • Design simple, practical training materials focused on immediate impact
  • Identify capability gaps through hands-on engagement with teams and managers
  • Partner with leaders to improve team performance and sustain improvements
  • Plan and coordinate training schedules to ensure consistent delivery across locations
  • Track training effectiveness, completion, and behavioural impact
  • Ensure compliance and mandatory training requirements are met
  • Continuously review and improve training approaches to maximise engagement and results

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a hands-on L&D or training role, ideally in a retail or multi-site environment
  • Strong trainer and coach, confident working directly with teams and managers
  • Practical, solutions-focused approach with strong organisational skills
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and engage at all levels
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, operational environment
