Chisholm Bookmakers is a family run business established in the 1950s with 32 betting shops located throughout the North East of England and Cumbria. Through our association with the Bookmakers Technology Consortium, we provide IT services to over 500 shops in the UK and Ireland.
We are looking for a full time IT Support Technician to join our team based at our Company head office in Ashington, Northumberland. The role will primarily involve providing technical support to our customers across Chisholm and BTC client estates. You will configure & test new hardware/software for use in a production environment and carry out routine maintenance and effective housekeeping on current I.T. systems and infrastructures. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1 to 2 years experience working within IT who has a genuine interest in technology and wants to progress their career within this field.
Main duties and responsibilities:- To deliver a first line support service via the Service Desk, receiving incidents and service requests from various routes including telephone, and the service desk ticketing system.
- To provide excellent customer care and service.
- Install and configure computer software operating systems and applications.
- Monitoring and maintain computer systems and networks.
- Troubleshooting system and networking problems, diagnosing and solving hardware or software faults ensuring they are handled within an agreed time limit, within agreed processes and in a professional and customer service-oriented manner.
- Supporting roll out of new applications.
- Setting up new user accounts and profiles and deal with password issues.
- A good knowledge of; Windows Server and Desktop operating systems, MS Office Suite, Routers and Networking.
- Some knowledge or experience of one or more of; VMware, SAN/NAS, Firewalls and Linux.
- A working knowledge of ITIL is also an advantage.
- In addition to industry standard systems there are bespoke in-house systems where full training will be provided.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and individually.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to troubleshoot system and network problems and identify suitable solutions.
- Must be able to work to deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal / communication skills.
- Demonstrate a flexible attitude to working hours.
The IT team work on a shift system which will include working weekends and bank holidays. Occasional evening working will be required.
