Hours of Work & Pay & Benefits
- Full time - Permanent
- 5 day working week - Monday to Friday 37 hours per week.
- £20.24 to £23.00 plus shift allowance of £7.65 for experienced machinists with proven background.
- Flexibility on start and finish times.
- Work pattern of two weeks days / nights on rotation.
- Overtime available paid at time and a half, then double time over 48 hours.
- Up to 12 weeks company sick pay.
Key responsibilities
- Setting up and operating CNC machines: Prepare the machine for the specific task, program the machine, and oversee the operation.
- Monitoring and adjusting machine settings: Ensure that the machine is working at optimal efficiency and quality. This may involve adjusting speed, feed, coolant flow, and other settings.
- Inspecting finished products for accuracy and quality: Check the finished product to ensure it meets the required specifications and quality standards.
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues with CNC machines: Identify and fix any problems with the machine, such as mechanical issues or programming errors.
- Collaborating with engineers to optimize manufacturing processes: Work closely with engineers to improve the manufacturing process, which can include optimizing machine settings, improving tooling, and implementing new machining strategies. Supporting the company on its continuous improvement journey.
- Ensuring the Safety of self and others: Following company procedures and best practice.
- Ensuring Compliance with Environmental Responsibilities: Following company procedures and best practice.
What you need for the role
- Previous experience and skills in a CNC milling role.
- Knowledge of CNC machinery, tooling, and precision measurement tools.
- Experience with Maztrol / Siemens controls is Essential.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong math skills.
- Keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including standing for prolonged periods.
