Delivering and collection of plant machinery to customers using a Heavy Goods Vehicle or van and trailer in a safe, professional, and timely manner. You will be working in a safety critical role and be responsible for delivering to a schedule and working to timescales. You will be required to maintain good care of your vehicle, conform to customer site transport plans, ensure all loads are secured, perform daily safety checks, and keep transport documents and paperwork updated. During quieter periods, you would be required to assist in the yard by cleaning down machinery and preparing them for rehire and completing other general maintenance duties within the yard.
Key skills & Duties:
- Oversee the safe loading of the vehicle and ensure the load is distributed and secured correctly.
- Ensure the loaded equipment is correct against the customer's order and is loaded within the maximum weight allowances of the vehicle.
- Follow collection/delivery instructions as per the information on the Insphire system.
- Deliver the customer's order in a timely and safe manner with respect for the customer's property.
- Handle any issues raised at the point of delivery calmly, effectively, and professionally.
- Always conduct yourself in a professional manner.
- Ensure the vehicle is kept in a clean and tidy condition.
- Drive the vehicle safely and in accordance with the highway code, tachograph legislation, and driver hours limits.
- Ensure the vehicle is not subject to unnecessary damage.
- Report damage and losses of equipment.
- Carry out daily checks and report any defects to the responsible person in the correct manner.
- Continually monitor vehicles for mechanical and safety issues and complete defect reports where required.
- Operation of winches (where applicable) safely and in accordance with the company's procedures, but only if trained and authorised to do so.
- Ensure accidents and incidents are kept to a minimum and are reported in accordance with the company's procedures.
- Report any changes to your driving license including endorsements or disqualifications.
- To follow the company rules and directives as set out in the Employee handbooks.
- Report any changes to health and/or medication.
- Washing off and cleaning machines including inside the cabs.
