We’re looking for an accountant (qualified or part qualified) to join our Finance team as Accounting Manager, reporting directly to the Financial Controller. You’ll play a key role in the day-to-day running of our financial operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, smooth month-end close processes, and timely reporting. You’ll manage core accounting activities - from payables, receivables, and reconciliations to payroll and statutory compliance - while supporting the FC in driving process improvements, audit readiness, and operational efficiency. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified or part qualified accountant with at least one year of industry experience who’s looking to broaden their skills.

What you can expect to be doing:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, ensuring all transactions are processed correctly and in line with accounting standards.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, payments, and collections.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes, including journal postings, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, maintaining robust documentation and supporting control reviews.
  • Process payroll and ensure salaries are paid accurately and on time, addressing any queries or issues as they arise.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, statutory, and regulatory filing requirements, maintaining appropriate records and controls.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, helping streamline accounting workflows, strengthen controls, and enhance reporting efficiency.
  • Collaborate with other departments, providing clear and timely financial information to support business operations and decision-making.

What we’re looking for:

  • Qualified or part qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • At least 1 year of industry experience in a finance or accounting role.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with a solid understanding of financial reporting and controls.
  • Experience across general ledger management, reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close processes.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficient in Excel and accounting systems (e.g. Xero, NetSuite, or similar).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience in fintech, banking, or other regulated financial services environments.
  • Familiarity with R&D tax credit processes or audit preparation.
  • Interest in process improvement, automation, and scaling finance operations in a growing business.

What we’re really looking for:

Someone with a genuine interest in Chip and is excited about being part of a fast-growing company and our mission to build the investment super app of the future. Although we’re in the financial space, and under the scrutiny that comes with it, the current team works well together, and even sometimes with a smile. We want a real person, with interests outside of work, to join our team. You could be a dancer, a gamer, a musician, a parent, a hockey fan, or even that one person that still writes Twilight fan-fiction. Doesn’t matter to us. At the interview stages, we will be looking for empathy, emotional intelligence, fun stories, and the ability to smile even when things are tough.

Working Hours:

Monday to Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Friday: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Start your weekend early!)

Enjoy a structured yet balanced workweek, with an early Friday finish to kickstart your weekend!

PERKS:

  • £40,000 - £45,000 per annum
  • Discretionary Performance-Related Bi-Annual Bonus of up to 10% (Cash) and 5% (Shares) based on your gross annual salary.
  • Workplace pension scheme - We invest in your future with a workplace pension scheme, contributing 5% on earnings up to £45,000.
