Launched in 1997, the China Daily Hong Kong Edition offers a unique local perspective that has become essential reading for decision-makers, including HKSAR government officials, CEOs and senior executives, scholars and academics in Hong Kong and Macau.
The China Daily Hong Kong Edition is recognized by both the newspaper industry and readers for its exceptional journalism and outstanding reporting. China Daily was a frequent winner at the most recent “Hong Kong News Awards” organized by the Newspaper Society of Hong Kong. Since 2010, The Hong Kong Edition has been honored every year at the “Hong Kong News Awards”, winning a current total of 141 awards.
In order to manage the development and its integrated revenue growth across China Daily media products, we are now looking for qualified candidates in Hong Kong to fill the following position:
Business Reporter
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the newspaper, the website and the new media platform of the Company including report and write articles on financial news / feature, GBA FOCUS, GBA Newsletter etc.
Produce and edit video products for financial news; manage new media channels of Hong Kong financial news
Responsible for multiple platforms to collect, analyze and present news events through interview and investigation
Follow China Daily editorial style and formatting guidelines to supply and review copies and correct errors in content
Line up interviews, research and analyze background information to provide a complete, accurate account of news events
Pitch story ideas to editors, keep the desk updated of progress
Work on special projects and other assignments as required
Requirements:
Bachelor Degree or above in Journalism or media communication or related disciplines from a reputable university.
Familiar with public affairs and economy of Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland
Proficiency in video editing
Skilled in new‑media platform promotion, including social media algorithms, audience growth tactics and analytics tools.
Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrable track record of new media account management
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese
Good command of reporting and writing skills with strong news sense and able to turn stories around quickly
Detail‑minded with high sense of responsibility, able to work independently and under pressure
Outgoing personality, energetic, with good interpersonal skills
