Chimney Stack is a virtual consultancy offering digital content and commercial strategy services to organisations large and small, in sports and Web3. We are representing a sports rightsholder client seeking a junior website editor. Our client is seeking an experienced, hard-working editor with demonstrable experience in delivering web content at scale that will drive traffic and readership. The editor will play a hands-on role in content development, content creation, and results-tracking, with the ability to derive and integrate insights and interests from tools including Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and others. They will be expected to help drive a scaling up of content that can attract and engage new audiences.

Responsibilities:

• Report to Chief Editor
• Develop, deliver, and post website editorial content for news, competitions, and athlete pages
• Lead on producing editorial content to support organisational initiatives and campaigns
• Use SEO functions and principles to enable strong search performance and increase discoverability and readership
• Develop mass appeal editorial content plans and coordinate with digital and social teams for wider integration
• Provide editorial support during sporting events, including real-time coverage during evenings or weekends
• Coordinate with stakeholders including other sports federations and media or technical partners
• Deputise for the Chief Editor if required

Experience and skills

• Outstanding written English and a portfolio of articles and relevant writing, preferably within sport
• Experience with major content and editorial production within a sporting environment; evidence of producing content at scale in a busy, fast-paced context
• Experience with sports rightsholder websites or sports/entertainment publishers (e.g., Buzzfeed, SportsBible, Vice)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong experience with CMS and archive management systems
• Ability to work remotely
• Understanding of track and field is desirable
