Chilworth Partnership are assisting a PE backed, rapidly growing wealth management business, based near Fareham, in their search for a newly created Risk Manager position. Reporting to the CFO, responsibilities will include:

  • Develop an integrated Risk Management Framework to ensure that it is aligned with the Group’s scale and complexity.
  • Acting as a dedicated Risk Partner to the Group’s regulated boards.
  • Annual updating of the RMF and RAS, ensuring they are up to date with any changes and presented to the Group’s Risk Committee for annual sign-off.
  • Taking ownership of the co-ordination and preparation of the quarterly Risk Committee pack.
  • Ownership of the Group ICARA, including ensuring that documents and associated submissions are prepared, reviewed, challenged and approved.
  • Reviewing and challenging risk reporting, assessments, incidents and assurance activities.
  • Ownership and management of the Group’s Risk Register, to ensure risk owners are clear on the impact and likelihood of a risk event.
  • Provide training across the firm to embed a risk aware mindset.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders across the Group to develop metrics to monitor risk in the business and to help set risk appetite thresholds.
  • Work with the Finance team to perform Stress and Reverse Stress Testing as necessary to monitor the effectiveness of the RMF in the Group.

Ideal background:

  • A sound working knowledge of the FCA Handbook, particularly on Risk under SYSC 7 and SYSC 21.
  • An understanding of risk frameworks and effective measurement of controls for risk mitigation.
  • Experience of implementing and embedding a risk framework that can be scaled with business growth.
  • Experience in using risk-based systems and tracking tools.
  • The ability to take ownership and responsibility for tasks and projects, working autonomously and collaborating as needed with key stakeholders.
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Qualifications in Financial Services preferable, either in Compliance or Risk.
