Salary: £25,614 per annum (pro rata), Actual salary £18,524.70 per annum

Hours: 31.25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year

Contract: Fixed term (12 months), required from September 2026

We are seeking a caring, patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This role will involve working predominantly 1:1 with a designated child, alongside supporting small group work as directed by the class teacher and SENCO.

The Role

  • Provide learning and care support for pupils with special educational needs
  • Support pupils with routines, transitions, emotional regulation and behaviour
  • Work closely with teachers to plan and deliver adapted learning activities
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions and targeted support
  • Promote independence, confidence and positive self-esteem
  • Support pupils during structured and unstructured times of the school day

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong and positive relationships with pupils
  • Adapt communication methods to meet individual needs
  • Support pupils' social, emotional and mental health
  • Deliver individual and small group interventions
  • Support inclusive classroom practice and adaptive teaching
  • Monitor, record and feedback on pupil progress
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents/carers and external professionals
  • Uphold high standards of safeguarding, behaviour and confidentiality

The Successful Candidate will have:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Grade 4/C or above in English and Maths
  • Experience working with children, ideally within a school or SEN setting
  • A good understanding of SEN and inclusive practice
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A calm, flexible and resilient approach
  • A genuine commitment to helping children thrive
  • Experience with Read Write Inc. phonics and delivering interventions is desirable but not essential
