The Graduate Mechanical Engineer role involves reviewing requests for customised existing automation and pneumatic products from the sales team to ensure specification is clear and viable, working with a talented team of Mechanical Design Engineers to create concept designs, creating detailed parts drawings for prototype testing with the designer, carrying out testing of pneumatic and automation products, ensuring timely completion of own projects, participation in larger projects under supervision, providing technical product support to the European part of the business, occasionally visiting customers in Europe to determine technical requirements for special products, and participating in technical market research activities and providing technical support concerning directives and standards relevant to automation products.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing requests for customised automation and pneumatic products
  • Collaborating with Mechanical Design Engineers to create concept designs for customised products
  • Creating detailed parts drawings for prototype testing
  • Carrying out testing of pneumatic and automation products
  • Ensuring timely completion of own projects
  • Participating in larger projects under supervision from a senior engineer
  • Providing technical product support to the European part of the business
  • Visiting European customers to determine technical requirements for special products
  • Participating in technical market research activities
  • Providing technical support concerning directives and standards related to automation products

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2.2 degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or Automotive Engineering (BEng or MEng) from a UK university
  • Experience managing projects (e.g., at university)
  • Experience in a design or engineering environment, and familiarity with CAD tools (experience not essential)
  • Experience writing technical reports
  • Ability to work as part of a multicultural team
  • Willingness to travel to European customers when required
  • Proficiency with MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent spoken and written English
