Responsibilities

  • Delivery of the fleet for daily service.
  • Line management of all staff at all depots including train presentation.
  • Provide strategic and operational leadership across all fleet depots to ensure safe, reliable and efficient delivery of the train service.
  • Ensure fleet maintenance, servicing and presentation activities are delivered to the highest safety and quality standards.
  • Work closely with Operations, Fleet Planning and Engineering teams to maximise fleet availability and performance.
  • Lead the effective use of people, materials and resources to support operational delivery, ensuring the fleet is available, maintained and presented to support daily train service delivery.
  • Provide leadership and direction to depot management teams across all fleet locations.
  • Ensure safe, compliant and efficient depot operations in line with the Safety Management System and industry standards.
  • Deliver fleet availability, reliability and presentation targets to support operational performance.
  • Work closely with Fleet Planning, Fleet Control and Operations teams to ensure trains are in the right place at the right time.
  • Monitor fleet performance and implement improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve reliability.
  • Ensure maintenance, servicing and cleaning activities are delivered effectively across all depots and outstations.
  • Lead performance management and continuous improvement across fleet delivery teams.
  • Manage budgets, workforce planning and resources to ensure efficient depot operations.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers and rolling stock owners to support effective fleet delivery.
  • Lead operational reviews and provide clear reporting on fleet performance, risks and delivery.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience managing T&RS depots and fleet operations within a rail environment.
  • Strong leadership and people management experience across multiple teams and locations.
  • Proven experience delivering fleet availability, reliability and operational performance.
  • Experience managing operational budgets and depot resources.
  • Strong stakeholder management across operations, engineering and planning functions.
  • Experience leading safety-critical operations within a regulated environment.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement and managing change.
