Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Catering Manager in serving school meals.
  • Clean kitchen premises and equipment.
  • Prepare all food, including special dietary meals.
  • Assist with basic paperwork.
  • Provide instruction to and supervise lower graded staff and trainees.
  • Carry out regular stocktaking and issue stock as required by the Catering Manager.
  • Ensure hygiene and Health and Safety standards, and carry out corrective action as necessary.
  • Comply with: The Health and Safety at Work Act. The school's Published Policies and Practices Documents.
  • Assist in providing refreshments for Governors' and staff meetings, maintaining high standards of hygiene.
  • Assist in training new staff.
  • Report equipment and maintenance problems and energy leaks to the Line Manager.
  • Assist in the organisation of food service areas, ensuring proper standards of presentation.
