Our client, a growing manufacturing and distribution business, is seeking a Night Shift Manager to oversee and support night-time production and warehouse operations. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to lead a small team while helping to develop and grow the night shift as the business expands. This role would suit an experienced production, warehouse, manufacturing, or logistics professional who enjoys combining people management with practical operational involvement.
Hours of work - Monday 18.30pm - 2am, Tuesday to Thursday 18.30pm - 2am and Friday 18.30- 1.30am.
Key Duties- Managing and supporting night-shift production and warehouse operations to ensure targets, deadlines, and quality standards are achieved.
- Working hands-on across production and warehousing activities, including picking, packing, stock movement, and supporting operational tasks during busy periods.
- Allocating workloads, monitoring workflow, and adjusting priorities to maintain efficiency and output throughout the shift.
- Supervising, motivating, and supporting the night-shift team, including monitoring attendance, performance, and timekeeping.
- Providing coaching, training, onboarding support, and assisting with recruitment and team development as the operation grows.
- Completing operational paperwork, stock updates, and shift handovers accurately while resolving operational issues independently.
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping, carrying out quality and accuracy checks, and enforcing health & safety procedures and PPE requirements.
- Conducting basic equipment checks and reporting faults or maintenance issues promptly.
- Previous supervisory or management experience within production, manufacturing, warehousing, or logistics environments.
- Strong hands-on operational background with the ability to support day-to-day shop-floor activities.
- Confident leadership style with the ability to motivate and manage a small team.
- Ability to work independently and make decisions during night operations.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Comfortable working within a fast-paced and physically active environment.
- Experience supporting team growth, recruitment, or training would be advantageous.
- Previous night-shift experience beneficial.
- Forklift truck or warehouse systems experience advantageous, although training can be provided.
