Our client, a prestigious golf club based near Beaconsfield, is looking for an experienced Retail Manager to work in their pro shop. The Retail Manager will oversee all aspects of the golf shop’s daily operations, including merchandising, sales performance, inventory management, member services, and staffing, giving customers a premium retail experience that reflects the club’s standards. Prior experience in retail management is essential. A keen interest in golf would be desirable, but not essential. This is a 40 hour a week role working between the hours of 8am and 6pm Monday – Sunday.
Duties include:
- Merchandising & Sales
- Develop and execute seasonal merchandising plans tailored to the club’s membership and brand.
- Select and manage vendor relationships for apparel, equipment, and accessories.
- Set pricing strategies and promotions to optimise sales and margins.
- Monitor sales performance and adjust product mix and displays accordingly.
- Inventory Management
- Maintain accurate inventory levels through forecasting, ordering, and regular stock counts.
- Manage receiving, tagging, and display processes.
- Minimise shrinkage through effective controls and tracking systems.
- Customer & Member Experience
- Deliver exceptional service to club members, guests, and tournament participants.
- Resolve customer issues quickly and professionally.
- Maintain high shop standards for appearance, cleanliness, and presentation.
- Coordinate with the golf operations team to support events, competitions, and tournaments.
- Financial & Administrative
- Prepare and manage annual retail budgets and sales forecasts.
- Track and report key performance indicators, including sales, margins, and inventory turns.
- Process invoices and ensure accurate POS and accounting practices.
- Maintain compliance with club policies and industry standards.
Skills and Experience:
- Prior retail management experience required (golf, resort, hospitality, or luxury retail preferred).
- Experience in a golf club or golf shop environment is highly advantageous.
- Strong merchandising and visual display abilities.
- Excellent communication, customer service, and sales skills.
- Proficiency with POS systems, retail inventory software, and basic financial reporting.
- Leadership and team management capabilities.
