Our client is seeking an Assistant Grounds Person to ensure that outdoor areas, sports facilities, and green spaces are maintained to a high standard. The successful candidate will observe safe working practices at all times, comply with health and safety requirements, and report any faulty equipment or hazards to the Head Groundsman without delay. Main Duties: * Assist in the preparation and maintenance of sports pitches, courts, and lawns, including line marking and mowing, and the erection and dismantling of sports equipment. * Use and assist in the maintenance of grounds tools and equipment, including ride-on mowers, tractors, strimmers, hedge cutters, and a wide variety of manual tools. * Carry out general gardening and grounds maintenance, including cultivation, digging, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, pruning, bed preparation, and planting. * Ensure that outdoor areas are clean, tidy, and safe, including regular clearance of litter, leaves, and snow. * Maintain and inspect fencing, pathways, and outdoor seating areas to ensure they are safe and well-maintained. * Assist in keeping the Grounds Department areas clean and organised, including the garage, equipment stores, and greenhouses. * Carry out seasonal maintenance, such as autumn leaf clearance, winter gritting, and snow removal to keep walkways safe. * Support landscaping and sustainability initiatives, such as helping with gardens and recycling efforts. * Assist with traffic and parking duties during events or busy periods. * Provide support for events and functions, including setting up equipment, seating, and marquees when required. Requirements: * Previous experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or gardening is desirable but not essential. * Ability to operate groundskeeping equipment and machinery (training provided). * Strong attention to detail and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. * A proactive approach to health and safety, ensuring that outdoor spaces remain safe at all times. * Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
