A well-established professional services provider based in Hertfordshire is seeking a confident and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join the finance department on a full-time basis. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong organisational skills and a proactive mindset to support senior finance staff and play a key role in the day-to-day running of financial operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of duties including supplier invoice processing, reconciliations, monthly journals, and credit control, alongside providing wider administrative and financial support to the team.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist senior finance staff with the preparation of month-end accounts
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Post monthly journals and ensure accurate financial records
- Process supplier and purchase invoices, reconciling statements and chasing any missing documentation
- Respond to internal and external queries via email and phone in a timely and professional manner
- Monitor utility contracts and compare market rates prior to renewal to ensure cost efficiency
- Manage coding and processing of ad hoc invoices, including downloading and verifying supporting data
- Maintain and post credit card expenditure documentation to the accounts system
- Collate financial data in support of SECR (Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting) obligations
- Administer petty cash processes including reconciliation, coding, and supplier allocations
- Oversee debtor ledger, monitoring outstanding payments and issuing appropriate reminders
- Provide general administrative and financial support as required
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Fully IT literate, with confidence using Microsoft Word and Excel (essential)
- Ability to effectively prioritise workload
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Competitive salary of £27,000 – £32,000 (dependent on experience)
