Accounts Assistant
High Wycombe £30,000 - £32,000 per annum Full Time. Office Based
Our Client is looking for an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team in High Wycombe. This varied role covers ledger management, accounts preparation, treasury work and supervision of junior staff, making it suitable for someone confident working accurately to deadlines.
This is a full-time, permanent position paying £30,000 – £32,000 per annum. The working hours are 37.5 hours per week, from 8.30am to 5.00pm with one hour for lunch.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with preparing accounts up to trial balance
- Manage the accounts payable, accounts receivable, subcontractor and nominal ledgers
- Complete ledger and account reconciliations
- Carry out treasury duties, including bank reconciliations
- Process payroll journal entries
- Prepare VAT and CIS returns
- Supervise junior members of staff
- Respond to internal and external accounting and invoice queries by telephone and email
- Complete other accounting and administrative duties as required
Experience required:
- Experience maintaining accounting ledgers through to trial balance, including preparing month-end reports for each ledger
- Experience assisting with or producing management accounts
- A thorough understanding of charts of accounts and double-entry bookkeeping
- Experience processing bank payments and receipts through online banking systems
- Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills
- An organised, efficient and accurate approach, with the ability to manage a varied workload against deadlines and agreed timetables
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately
- Ability to maintain financial controls and support financial probity
- Clear and articulate verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to gather, summarise and present information to different audiences
- Ability to organise your own time and work independently across multiple physical sites
- A dependable, flexible and productive approach, with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- An AAT part-qualification or another relevant accounting qualification, such as ACCA or CIMA, is desirable
- Experience using financial systems is desirable, with strong practical knowledge of accounting software highly advantageous
- Experience in financial administration or office systems development is desirable
