Some engineers are happiest when everything works perfectly. Others are the people everyone turns to when it doesn’t. If you naturally want to understand why a hydraulic system drifted out of tolerance, what caused a pressure performance issue, or why a component failed under repeated load cycles, this could be a genuinely interesting opportunity.
We’re supporting the search for an experienced Senior Product Engineer to join a highly respected aerospace engineering environment, working on complex aircraft control components and high-performance hydraulic systems. This is not simply a “support production” role. It’s a position for someone who enjoys technical investigation, first principles thinking, root cause analysis, and solving difficult engineering problems that sit across design, assembly and test.
What you’ll be doing:
- Acting as a senior technical focal point across production and engineering teams, investigating complex issues relating to hydraulic and mechanical performance, assembly, testing and product integrity.
- Leading investigations into production and test failures.
- Analysing hydraulic and mechanical performance issues.
- Understanding failure mechanisms and recurrence prevention.
- Supporting assembly and test process development.
- Reviewing product and process improvements.
- Working closely with manufacturing, quality and test teams.
- Supporting non-conformance and MRB/PRB activities.
- Providing technical direction to engineers across the business.
- Helping improve reliability, yield, quality and overall system performance.
This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys understanding how systems behave under pressure, load, vibration and real operating conditions rather than purely theoretical design work.
What we’re looking for:
We’re interested in engineers who combine strong practical engineering judgement with analytical thinking and technical curiosity. You’ll likely have experience in areas such as:
- Hydraulics or fluid power systems.
- First principles engineering knowledge.
- Pressure system performance.
- Failure investigation and root cause analysis.
- Mechanical testing and validation.
- Aerospace, defence, oil & gas, motorsport, power generation or other high-performance engineering environments.
- Production engineering, product support or systems engineering.
Ideally Degree qualified. You’ll also ideally have experience with:
- PFMEA.
- Control plans.
- Process improvement.
- Assembly and test procedures.
- Cross-functional engineering support.
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who enjoys asking questions, digging deeper into problems and understanding what’s really happening beneath the surface.
About the company:
- Highly respected aerospace engineering business.
- Complex, technically challenging products and systems.
- Friendly, supportive engineering culture.
- Modern working environment and facilities.
- Hybrid working and flexible hours.
- Strong long-term development opportunities.
- £65,000 - £70,000 salary package plus excellent benefits.
If you’re an engineer who enjoys solving difficult problems rather than simply escalating them, we’d love to hear from you. Due to the high number of applications, if you do not hear back within 2 weeks, unfortunately you have not been successful on this occasion. Applicants must have permanent Right to Work in the UK and security clearance may be required once in the role.
