Abertay is a modern university with a global outlook, rooted in its local and national communities. We have made our mark with high quality, well-directed teaching and research, and a stimulating and enriching experience for our students.

The Faculty of Design, Informatics and Business is the home of Abertay’s degree programmes in law, accounting and finance, business and marketing, cybersecurity, applied computer science, computer games and digital arts. Abertay was the first University in the world to offer degrees in Computer Games Technology and Ethical Hacking, and we are recognised as leaders internationally in games and nationally in cybersecurity. With the addition of Dundee Business School into the Faculty, we are now extending our academic team to develop our national and international standing.

Reporting to the Head of the Dundee Business School, you will contribute to the excellent teaching experience and impactful research and knowledge exchange within the law subject area. Specifically, we look to appoint a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer who can contribute to the delivery of our LLB and LLB (Hons) programmes which are accredited by the Law Society of Scotland and the Faculty of Advocates. We are particularly interested in interviewing candidates with an interest in teaching a range of core Scottish law modules such as Criminal law and Evidence, Delict and Evidence, Business Transactions, Business Organisations and Property. Experience in legal practice in Scotland will be an advantage, as will teaching the above-mentioned modules at tertiary level in Scotland. A Scottish law LLB or LLB (Hons) is an essential requirement.

Our programmes have a strong emphasis on the development of transferable skills along with the academic discipline of law. As we are in the process of developing a master’s degree programme in Cyber Law, Policy and Ethics in cooperation with colleagues from our world‑leading Department of Cybersecurity, we are particularly interested in candidates with a track record of teaching and/or research in this fast‑developing area. We supervise a number of research master’s and PhD candidates and there is an established research culture which led to a successful submission to the REF2021. This, therefore, is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to contribute to the further development of the Law subject area and the Dundee Business School.
