  • Assist in the maintenance and development of formal gardens, lawns, vegetable nurseries, and estate grounds to consistently high standards.

  • Operate and maintain a variety of garden machinery, including tractors, mowers, and other equipment.

  • Support the implementation of sustainable gardening practices throughout the estate.

  • Conduct and update COSHH and Risk Assessments, ensuring safety protocols are adhered to.

  • Supervise and manage staff and contractors to achieve gardening and maintenance goals in the absence of the Estate and Gardening manager

  • Undertake regular tasks such as mowing, pruning, planting, weeding, and pest control.

  • Maintain a proactive approach to the upkeep of the estate, addressing challenges as they arise throughout the seasons.

  • Proven experience working in a high-end formal garden environment

  • Strong physical fitness and willingness to undertake hands-on work in all weather conditions.

  • Practical horticultural knowledge and skills, with a meticulous eye for detail

  • Competence in using and maintaining a wide range of garden machinery, including tractors

  • Strong knowledge of COSHH and risk management principles

  • Effective leadership skills
