As a newly qualified social worker you will work as part of a supportive team, providing high‑quality comprehensive social work services to children, young people and families. You will follow the Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE) programme, receive mentoring, and progress to a full Social Worker role upon successful completion of the ASYE cycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage an allocated caseload under supervision, including assessment and appropriate risk management.
  • Apply theories and methods of social work practice, working restoratively and using evidence‑based research.
  • Conduct child‑focused assessments of service users and carer needs.
  • Develop and implement service and support plans that meet assessed needs.
  • Use safeguarding frameworks to investigate and manage risks where children have experienced or are likely to experience harm.
  • Prepare concise, informative written and verbal reports for legal and professional use.
  • Maintain accurate case notes and records.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary professionals, partners and agencies.
  • Engage children and young people in planning and decision‑making processes.
  • Monitor and review plans, ensuring statutory and service priorities are met.
  • Participate in supervision, appraisal and continuing professional development activities.
  • Contribute to service design and improvement via workshops and consultations.
  • Support children who are looked after or in protection plans through modern, person‑centred interventions.
  • Assist in commissioning and providing advocacy for service users.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant governance, policy and procedure requirements.
  • Adopt a flexible working approach, including evening and weekend hours when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Appropriate professional qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent).
  • Registered with Social Work England upon commencement and maintain yearly registration.
  • Experience of working in a statutory setting within children’s social work, including child protection or looked‐after children, within the English legislation framework.
  • Knowledge of social work theory, policy, legislation, safeguarding issues and current practice trends.
  • Strong communication, collaboration and multi‑agency working skills.
  • Ability to use supervision for critical reflection and practice enhancement.
  • Proficiency with management information systems and technology for record‑keeping.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse and disadvantaged communities.
