This role sits at the heart of the Council’s Organisational Productivity Programme – a strategic response to the increasing financial and operational pressures facing local government. You will ensure the successful delivery and monitoring of projects across the organisation, engaging with cross‑functional senior stakeholders to drive progress, maintain governance, provide transparent reporting, and support effective change management.
Key Responsibilities- Act as Project Manager for large‑scale, priority projects for WBC to meet its strategic priorities.
- Build strong relationships quickly, identifying and understanding dependencies.
- Follow the Business Change Framework methodology and ways of working.
- Administer and manage the project process and service project meetings.
- Agree and produce clear, concise project plans and delivery timescales.
- Identify key outputs and milestones for decision.
- Report to the appropriate governance forums, tracking and monitoring actions.
- Manage risks and issues, recording and tracking costs/benefits.
- Minimum of 2 years’ Project Management experience with evidence of successful delivery.
- Trained in PRINCE2 and/or equivalent project management methodology.
- Knowledge of local government, particularly transformational government and efficiency agenda.
- Relevant change management qualification or skills and experience (e.g., Prosci or similar).
- Experience using Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, MS Project, MS Visio, PowerPoint.
- Generous Annual Leave – 31 days annual leave (rising by 5 days after 5 years of continued local government service).
