Children’s Services in Wokingham Borough Council are currently transitioning through a planned phase of redesign, in line with the National Reforms. As part of this transformation phase, we have some fantastic opportunities that align with our systemic values and service goals.

We have an opening for a Social Worker to join us, initially in our Children We Care For team (Here4U). The main focus of this Social Worker role will be to work with Children and Young People in Our Care in Wokingham. Your systemic based practice will have a direct impact on our Children in Care, as you encourage high aspirations and achievable goals as a good corporate parent.

You will be working with children and young people from birth to 18 years old in a variety of settings, including kinship placements, foster care, residential care, placement with parents, UASC’s, and semi-independent living. You will work with professionals and family members to meet the children’s needs (which may be outside of the Borough) on both a planned and critical basis. You will work directly with children and young people on a daily basis, building long term relationships supporting their care plans to adulthood.

You will also have more opportunities to work alongside our other Social Work teams in a collaborative and energetic way, as the service reshapes and evolves through the redesign process.
