Position Details

Role: Family Intervention Worker
Location: Leicester
Hours: As required – will involve weekend work.
Salary: £13.74 per hour

About the Role

We are looking for experienced family support workers to join our team to deliver CAFCASS Improving Child and Family Arrangements (ICFA). ICFA helps families agree safe, beneficial and sustainable child arrangements. The role involves working alongside parents to improve outcomes for their individual family over a 12‑week period.

Sessions can be arranged at suitable times for you and the families you are working with, allowing flexibility of days and times worked. You will ideally have access to your own laptop. The role often involves some weekend work.

Responsibilities

  • Reduce barriers and resistance to agreeing arrangements
  • Promote positive communication within families
  • Ensure children’s wishes and feelings are heard

To achieve the above, Family Intervention Workers will explore the current situation and work with parents and the children to agree a plan to break down any barriers, improve communication, observe family interactions during direct contact sessions and agree next steps. They will support parents to prepare a parenting plan for after ICFA has been completed. The role requires written reports.

Full training and support are provided to the successful candidate. This is an ideal role for graduates with experience of working directly with children and families.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have experience of working directly with children and families and will be able to carry out the responsibilities outlined above. All applicants will be subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check.
