Position Overview
The Family Support Services Supervisor provides leadership to a team of staff focused on the educational, social, and emotional needs of early learners and families served by our family support programs within the Palatine Center and DeKalb, Boone, Grundy Counties and surrounding communities. As a Family Support Services Supervisor, you will collaborate and network with service providers, maintain community linkages, develop service agreements, and develop and maintain a comprehensive directory of community resources.
Candidate Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Family Services, Family Studies, Human Services, Social Services, Counseling, or related field.
- Gateway Level 5 Family Specialist Credential.
- Three years of experience providing family support services.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish.
- Valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.
Candidates without the required degree/credentials may be considered with an approved educational plan.
Job Responsibilities
- Administer the Family Service program area for assigned program locations ensuring an integrated comprehensive system of services for children and families.
- Supervise and oversee work tasks and activities of Family Support Services (FSS) staff to ensure full delivery of integrated services to children and families, including implementing the agency's personnel policies and practices. This includes hiring, appraisals, leaves, promotions, salary changes, terminations, and documentation of all personnel actions.
- Provide training, support and guidance to FSS staff to ensure high quality and timely services are provided to parents in compliance with Head Start Performance standards, The Head Start Parent, Family and Community Engagement (PFCE) framework, ISBE, CPS, DFSS and best practices in the field.
- Ensure active collaboration of FSS staff and services with Site Managers and education; varied learners; health; Eligibility, Recruitment, Selection, Enrollment and Attendance (ERSEA) and other content area staff.
- Provide training and guidance to parents and community members on a variety of pertinent topics in the area of family and community partnerships.
- Collaborate with State and community partners to recruit children and families and to enhance family access to services.
Compensation and Benefits
- Compensation: Salary range $49k–$62k; offers are commensurate with experience and bilingual candidates may receive additional compensation. The final salary will be determined based on a range of factors, including but not limited to a candidate's relevant experience, education, qualifications, skills, certifications, and alignment with organizational needs.

- Location: The position is based at the Community Child Care Center of Palatine Township and provides support for Family Support staff across both the Center Based program in Palatine and the DeKalb/Boone/Grundy Home-Based program. Regular travel is required. Opportunities to work remotely 1–2 days per week may be available based on program needs and supervisor approval.
- Schedule: Salaried, general business hours with some flexibility required for special projects and evening/weekend recruitment events.
