We are hiring a Team Leader at Children of the Mangrove

A mangrove holds firm in the hardest conditions and gives shelter while roots take hold. That is exactly what we do for children who have not always been kept safe. We are looking for a Team Leader who can hold that steadiness for a staff team as well as for the young people.

Children of the Mangrove is a children's home provider in South West London. We care for young people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs, using a relational, trauma informed approach and the PACE model of playfulness, acceptance, curiosity and empathy. Maroon House is rated Good by Ofsted.

We are recruiting Team Leaders for both day posts and night posts. Each post is one or the other, so you would work days only or nights only, rather than a mix of the two. Please tell us which you are applying for.

What the role really is:

• Leading the shift and modelling the practice we want from everyone else
• Supervising, supporting and developing residential childcare workers
• Turning care plans, risk assessments and keywork into what actually happens each day
• Holding safeguarding at the centre of every decision and escalating concerns without delay
• Working with social workers, schools, health services and families
• Keeping clear, accurate records, including incident and safeguarding recording
• Stepping up in the manager's absence

What we are looking for:

• Experience in residential childcare, or similar work with young people
• Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare, or a willingness to work towards it
• Sound understanding of safeguarding and the Children's Homes Regulations 2015
• Someone calm, reflective and steady under pressure
• A full UK driving licence is an advantage

• 33,500 to 39,000 pounds a year, depending on experience and shift pattern
