Children North East is a large North East based children’s charity that works across the region, with some work extending across England, Wales and Scotland. We exist because growing up can be hard. We want all babies, children and young people to be happy and healthy, and to grow up feeling safe and loved, resilient to the challenges they may face, and valued and confident.

Children North East's performance has accelerated against our current strategic objectives and the charity is now preparing its new five-year strategic plan. We are continuing to broaden our reach regionally and grow our work nationally where need is required. We are looking for an accomplished HR Director to join our Senior Leadership Team. We want someone who is passionate about leading our people strategy forward.

The ideal person will have proven HR leadership experience, a deep understanding of HR functions, a strategic mind-set, strong leadership and excellent communication skills. This is a critical role, which will report directly to the CEO. You will be responsible for developing the people strategy and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the charity.

In order to be suitable for this role you must be a highly driven leader with a proven track record of working at leadership level. You will be involved in making key decisions in line with the charity’s strategic plan and will need to have excellent planning and organisational abilities to ensure we execute our strategic aims in a timely manner.

Purpose of the Role

As the HR Director, you will provide strategically minded and delivery-focused expertise to the Leadership Team. This is to enable a safe, inclusive and highly engaged workplace in order to achieve our strategic objectives of growth, sustainability, reach and impact. You will be accountable for leading HR, Learning and Development, Health and Safety and the Facilities Team.

You will lead, anticipate and be at the forefront of challenges and opportunities that shape the delivery of our strategic plan. The HR Director will be capable of leading effectively and efficiently in a continually developing and fast changing workplace. The HR Director will be capable of leading in change and motivating others to embrace it. The HR Director will minimise any people risks to the organisation.

This post is 22.5 hours flexible over 3 days which is part-time against full-time hours of 37 per week. The salary is £53,615 to £59,829 pro-rated for 22.5 hours per week.
