As an Early Years Teacher, you will be responsible for high quality teaching and learning, along with directly contributing to and maintaining the successful leadership, management and reputation of your nursery setting. Qualified to degree level with a proven track record, you will inspire, lead and motivate your team whilst drawing on your in-depth knowledge and Early Years’ experience to plan, teach and assess our Pre‑School children. Key to the success of this role is balancing the needs of all stakeholders including children, their families, staff and our regulator, Ofsted. You will also be responsible for being a reliable key holder. In this role, continuous professional and personal development is an essential part to maintain up to date relevant knowledge.

Hours: 8:30am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week)

Qualification required: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

Location: Hours split across Cherubs Sutton‑In‑Ashfield and Cherubs South Normanton

Description of Duties:

  • Create a high quality, rich, stimulating and enabling environment containing items that will spark curiosity and lead to independent exploration.
  • Deliver high quality interactions through planned activities to raise the standard of teaching and learning across the setting and ensuring Pre‑School children are school ready.
  • Get to know the children, families and staff team at the nursery, creating a trusting rapport with all, including leading parents evenings and meetings in relation to children’s development and preparation for school transitions.
  • Ensure all SEN/ASL needs are identified early and are met with respect, care and professionalism.
  • Where necessary work alongside the Nursery Manager and Group Safeguarding and SEND Lead.
  • Ensure that ratio and internal regulations are always met, whilst taking into account any statutory or welfare requirements.

Take Ownership:

  • Ensure the Cherubs Nurseries approach and curriculum intent is properly and consistently embedded across all areas of Pre‑School.
  • Establish and maintain a purposeful learning atmosphere.
  • Regularly update cohort and tracking and analyse to inform future improvements, creating action plans tailored to each of the age groups educators.
  • Be responsible for the nursery’s planning, observations and assessments through Blossom, ensuring these are up to date and all children are achieving positive outcomes.

Commit:

  • Be accountable for all key people in the nursery, ensuring they are striving for positive and successful outcomes for their key children as well as being responsible for your own key children’s learning and development.
  • Ensure the nursery receives excellent (outstanding) outcomes in internal audits and those of external authorities such as Ofsted.
  • Attend any meetings, training or workshops (both in and sometimes outside of working hours) to ensure that you and the nursery team remain compliant and informed on business changes and best practice.
  • Lead any staff meetings relating to teaching and learning.

  • Mentor your team and always demonstrate best practice, ensuring that your team learn and develop because of your outstanding practice.

Your Qualifications and Experience:

  • Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) or Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Qualified to degree level in Early Years or Education
  • 3 years’ experience working in an Early Years Setting or Classroom
  • 2 years’ experience of leading a room or unit within an early year’s environment (Would be advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience of Safeguarding and/or SENDCo and/or Language Lead
  • Proven track‑record of teaching to a Good or Outstanding standard in Early Years
