Contract: Permanent, 37.5 hours/week, 52 weeks/year. Working pattern: Monday‑Friday; choose either 09:30‑18:00 or 10:00‑18:30.
Salary: £25,096.50 per annum (pro‑rata) | £12.87 per hour.
Responsibilities
- Prepare wholesome, healthy meals for up to 148 children aged 6 weeks‑5 years.
- Contribute to the preparation of a range of meals from a set‑menu, using fresh ingredients.
- Maintain 5‑star hygiene standards in the kitchen, ensuring knowledge of COSHH, allergens and manual handling.
- Support safeguarding by ensuring children's dietary needs and well‑being are met.
- Collaborate with the Nursery Cook to promote healthy eating and build respectful relationships with colleagues, children and parents.
- Take full responsibility for all food preparation and cooking tasks in the absence of the cook.
Qualifications
- Professional catering experience related to child or commercial catering.
- Strong cooking technique and an understanding of dietary requirements for young children.
- Knowledge of COSHH, allergens, manual handling and hygiene standards.
- Demonstrated dedication to safeguarding children and a collaborative approach.
- Right to work in the UK; current residence within commutable distance of the nursery.
