Partnerships and Events Manager – vacancy
Child Safety Media (CSM) is the leading provider of child safety events in the UK. We deliver ‘Crucial Crew’/ ’Junior Citizen’ events to thousands of children and young people, covering topics such as personal safety, fire and home safety, first aid, crime, drugs and alcohol, bullying, Internet safety and anti‑social behaviour. CSM makes a significant contribution to the safety and wellbeing of children by providing schools with vital information upon which young people’s lives depend. Our mission is to deliver memorable, practical and impactful safety events to every child in the UK so that they can make informed choices when they are faced with danger, and embrace greater independence, health and wellbeing in later life.
We are looking to recruit a Partnerships and Events Manager with the necessary experience and communication skills to maintain and develop the organisation, secure funding and deliver a number of events nationally, managing strategic relationships with partner agencies to the benefit of our stakeholders. This position would ideally suit someone with an Emergency Service or community safety background but may also be suitable for an experienced general manager.
Job type: Term time only
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Current event locations: South East and North West

The Role and the Opportunity
As Partnerships and Events Manager, you will play a critical role in continuing the Company’s success, working to the highest professional standards and significantly contributing to the delivery and development of our events programme. This is a great opportunity, enabling you to make your mark on existing and new projects, which equip children with essential life skills. Your success will enable the organisation to continue to protect and empower young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct oneself as an ambassador for the Company – attending events, developing relevant contacts and making presentations to existing and potential stakeholders.
- Ensure the highest quality of stakeholder servicing through effective relationship development, keeping all informed and interested in the work and achievement of the organisation.
- Co‑ordination of all practical aspects of numerous child safety events, including the:
- Identification and booking of suitable venues and participating agencies.
- Tendering for transportation of children to and from the venue, securing relevant risk assessment and operators insurance documents etc from the winner.
- Confirmation of on‑site coordinators (recruit and maintain adequate resource for all events).
- Organising of Orientation Meetings at the venue prior to each event, to include producing associated risk assessments etc.
- Arranging of all aspects of work involved in the organisation of VIP Days.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
- Demonstrate success in event management, partnership working and funding/sponsorship.
- Reliable knowledge of budgeting, financial reporting and data recording.
- Full, clean driving licence, with own transport.
Skills and Abilities
- Passion and enthusiasm for keeping children safe.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to articulate proposals, negotiate agreements and foster strong relationships.
- Ability to build trust, rapport and a collaborative environment with all stakeholders to maintain long‑term professional relationships.
- Flexibility and good prioritisation skills to produce high quality, accurate outputs under pressure.
- Well‑honed analytical/ negotiation skills, as well as strong organisational/ administrative skills.
- A ‘can do’ person with a positive attitude, combined with the highest personal standards and professionalism.
- Resourceful, creative and persistent.
- Willingness to travel for meetings and to undertake occasional duties outside of the traditional working hours, as appropriate.
