About the Nursery

Blackshaw Nursery offers high quality childcare services to both the staff of St George's hospital and the families in the local community. We provide full and part time placements in a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment. Our nursery is committed to fostering the development of children through engaging activities, encouraging a love for learning and supporting their social and emotional growth. Located in Tooting, we prioritise collaboration with parents and caregivers to best support each child's unique needs. We cater for children aged 1-5 years. We are open Monday-Friday 7am-6pm.

Responsibilities

  • Be aware and understand the needs of the users of the nursery.
  • Treat every child as a unique individual whilst respecting their cultures, religion, choices and different stages of development and capabilities.
  • Be a team player and support each other in any way possible.
  • Be a good role model.
  • Provide an inclusive service for care and education ensuring that activities planned and carried out are sensitive to the diverse background of the children.
  • Keep records on the children as necessary.
  • Demonstrate skills in communication, including the ability to effectively interact with the children, parents and colleagues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS and planning.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate age-appropriate activities that support children's development.
  • Promote children's independence, confidence, and well-being.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety regulations, safeguarding and first aid is an advantage.
  • Work an 8 hour shift within nursery hours which includes a 1 hour break.

Qualifications

  • Reliable, nurturing, enthusiastic Childcare Practitioner Level 2 or 3.

Contract & Remuneration

  • Working full time or 2/3 days a week.
  • Level 2 salary (pro rata if part time): £28,327 per annum + 3% pension contribution.
  • Level 3 salary (pro rata if part time): £28,339 per annum + 3% pension contribution.
  • Annual leave: 22 days + 8 bank holidays (pro rata if part time), when the nursery is closed.
  • Additional 2 days a year for staff training.
