Chigwell School is seeking a part‑time School Counsellor (three days per week during term time) to provide confidential, independent counselling to pupils.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individual counselling sessions to support pupils’ personal, social, emotional and educational needs.
- Work closely with students, pastoral staff and external agencies to promote wellbeing, attendance and achievement.
- Adapt therapy to the developmental needs of children and young people using tools such as YP Core and SDQ.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and uphold safeguarding procedures and policies.
- Co‑operate with the pastoral team and contribute to a supportive school culture.
Qualifications and requirements
- Diploma‑level counselling qualification.
- Registered with a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP).
- Experience working creatively with children and young people.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and child‑protection screening (DBS).
