The role ensures translational & precision medicine milestones and principles are implemented into clinical development plans, leads translational & precision medicine studies within development programs, and acts as the resident translational medicine expert for specific disease indications.
Main Responsibilities
- Represents the product clinical expertise for translational & precision medicine matters for specific disease indications inside and outside the company.
- Acts as subject matter expert in translational & precision medicine for specific disease indications, maintaining and enhancing knowledge in relevant therapeutic or technical matters.
- Represents GRD Clinical Development and R&D in regulatory & scientific interactions, patient registries, biomarker consortia, workshops for translational & precision medicine matters.
- Supports the clinical evaluation of external opportunities considering Chiesi’s in-licensing strategy, in collaboration with the clinical team.
- Liaises with pre-clinical experts to steer translational & precision medicine science across R&D.
- Designs and leads feasibility/exploratory studies in humans to validate new technologies for clinical programs and leads development and implementation of bioanalytical and bioinformatics studies using multi‑dimensional –omics data.
- Designs studies to identify and validate biomarkers for clinical study endpoints and patient stratification through integrated analysis of high‑throughput molecular data and clinical phenotypes.
- Designs and leads implementation of studies to generate new hypotheses from multi‑platform diverse datasets using data science and computational biology approaches.
- Builds relationships with scientific leaders, KOLs, academic partners, and scientific networks to develop hypothesis‑driven collaborations that complement internal efforts.
Experience Required
- 5+ years of industry experience in clinical development, translational research or related fields. Relevant experience in clinical or academic research in rare diseases and/or advanced therapeutics is a plus.
Education
- MD or equivalent with experience in clinical research, or PhD in biomedical science. PharmD or Master’s Degree with longstanding, relevant experience may also be considered.
