What is Personal Tax? Personal tax or private client tax is a system of taxation applied to individuals on their income, capital gains, savings, investments and on death. It encompasses both tax compliance matters, ensuring individuals meet statutory filing and payment requirements, and advisory services, which focus on planning for the future and optimising our clients' tax position.

The Role: As a Trainee Personal Tax Associate, you will be a key part of our personal tax team, learning the skills required to provide expert advice and support to a range of clients. As a large team, we offer both tax compliance and advisory services to our clients and you will have the chance to get involved in interesting work. Responsibilities will include preparation of tax returns, conducting research on tax rules and guidance, communication directly with HMRC on client matters and supporting the team with administrative tasks. You will learn not only the technical skills required for the role but the interpersonal and soft skills required from a tax adviser which will be key to your future growth in the industry.

What We Offer: We are committed to helping you achieve your professional goals. For successful candidates, we offer:

  • Full support and funding for professional tax examinations, including study leave
  • Mentorship from experienced professionals who will guide your development.
  • A collaborative work environment with the opportunity to make an impact
  • A clear training and progression path for the first 5 years and opportunities to progress within the firm beyond your training contract.
  • A competitive compensation package with performance-based incentives.

  • A strong academic record including Mathematics and English qualifications, at least at Higher level.
  • A willingness to learn and ability to take initiative when approaching tasks.
