Are you a highly motivated Lab Technician or Manufacturing Operative with wet chemical production experience? Our established client develops and produces high-performance coatings for industries, including aviation and automotive, from their state-of-the-art facilities. They are looking for lab production technicians with experience in chemical manufacturing processes, or similar, to join their small team. Commutable from Leicester, Wigston, Oadby, Blaby, Whetstone and surrounding areas.
The Role of Production & Laboratory Technician
- Low-loss filling of the allotted production batches
- Cleaning and maintenance of the production, laboratory and spray equipment
- Adherence to the quality requirements, i.e. reporting to the superior of any standard deviations throughout the operation of batch production or the colour matching process
- Manufacturing of products in accordance with the manufacturing instructions
- Labelling of batches during the production process
- Checking the conformity of the coating material with the correct label/batch number
- Regular controlling and filling of the semi-finished products/tinters to be used for production
- Processing of the allotted production orders in the EDP
- Use of mixing technology, e.g. colour measurement computers in accordance with instructions
- Use of tinting techniques in accordance with formulation guidelines/instructions
- Use of the mixing systems and scales, including cleaning and maintenance, as specified
- Execution of all tasks arising from the daily job requirements
- Demonstrate completion and retention of production documents in accordance with the Quality manual
- Use of filling techniques in accordance with filling instructions
- Colour matching various paint systems using semi-finished products and from scratch materials
- To be competent to colour match in Solid colour, Metallic and effect pigment systems using relevant computer software and manual by eye corrections
- Correct processing of Master exchange panels/SAP/EDP set up in accordance with instructions
- Use of Laboratory paint Test equipment, such as Microscope, Rheometer, flow cups, density
- Paint spray application of colour design samples for solid, metallic and effect colours
- Completion and passing of the Munsell colour vision hue test
- Pay attention to cleanliness and orderliness
- Conduction of all operations associated with the tasks of the production department
Key Candidate Requirements - Lab Technician
- Experience in chemical manufacturing, or similar
- Experience in following production processes or instructions, such as formulas or recipes, in a controlled environment
- Possess the ability to identify and carry out routine preventative maintenance of critical process control features
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with Excel and Word
- The ability to analyse situations and results (reasoning ability and logical thought)
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- A team player, as well as the ability to work independently
- Having an eye for detail
