Overview
As our Instructor Technician, you\’ll support students and staff by ensuring the safe use of equipment, preparing teaching resources, and maintaining an organised learning environment. It\’s a hands-on role with a clear purpose – equipping young talent with the skills to thrive in the construction industry. You will undertake administration related to course requirements and provide reports and statistics as required.
Responsibilities
- Participate in marketing activities and promote the College for sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.
- Liaise with Additional Support in specific cases to ensure students get appropriate support.
- Participate in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, reviews, meetings and promotional activities, as required.
- Organise daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation and maintenance of resources, services and housekeeping.
- Provide assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment. This may include use of machines in the wood workshop.
- Implement and maintain the regulations of the Health and Safety at Work Act and the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health legislation, including the reviews of health and safety policies and procedures in the workplace and undertake risk assessments.
- Participate in course review activities and the generation and implementation of new resources and action plans.
Ideal candidate / Qualifications
- Have general construction skills such as carpentry, brickwork or furniture making and want to support the construction industry professionals of the future in a part time role.
- Level 2 qualification in the relevant subject area or relevant trade experience and willingness to work towards.
- Working knowledge of the relevant vocational area.
- Relevant industrial/subject experience.
- The ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all levels, verbally and in writing.
- Innovative and creative in meeting the needs of learners.
