Chichester College is seeking a Teaching and Learning Manager for our GCSE English and Maths department. The role oversees provision for adult learners returning to education as well as our learners resitting GCSEs. The Teaching and Learning Manager for GCSE will focus on the highest quality of teaching and learning in every lesson, with the day‑to‑day management of the GCSE English and Maths staff being led by the individual curriculum areas. This allows the manager to fully focus on the quality of the provision and drive improvement across the college. We are looking for a forward‑thinking, dynamic manager who can work closely with other Teaching and Learning Managers and deliver quality improvement in a collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding teaching, learning and assessment and provide exceptional support for students.
- Contribute to all curriculum planning processes, including curriculum intent statements, timetabling and managing maths and English delivery across all product lines.
- Provide advice and support for new developments to broaden the curriculum offer, drawing on input from the community, employers and stakeholders.
- Support recruitment of students, including attending open events and other events as required by the Head of Learning.
- Support effective recruitment and retention of teaching, delivery and support staff, applying a coaching approach to the staff team.
- Encourage and support innovation, risk‑taking and the use of technology to enhance curriculum delivery, engagement and learning.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion within the curriculum and the College community.
Qualifications and Experience
- A Certificate in Education or Post Graduate Certificate in Education, or equivalent.
- An level 3 qualification relevant to the area of teaching expertise.
- Proven record of teaching and assessment to a consistently high standard, including the use of technology.
- Proven record of trialling new developments within own teaching and learning and assessment and supporting the development of others.
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of curriculum and teaching and learning, including the GCSE system, demonstrated through continuing professional development.
The role is full‑time and permanent, 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year, with a pro‑rata salary of £44,630 – £48,774 per annum.
