Brinsbury College, part of the Chichester College Group, is seeking a Freshstart Coordinator (& Safeguarding Lead). This role is 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, with a pro rata salary of £31,279 - £34,189 per annum (i.e. £28,391.71 - £31,033.09).
At Brinsbury College, our purpose is to Change Lives Through Learning. As our Freshstart Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting some of our most vulnerable learners, helping them re-engage with education and progress successfully into post-16 destinations.
About the role
As the Freshstart Coordinator (& Safeguarding Lead), you will be the central point of contact for the pastoral, welfare and safeguarding needs of our 14-16 learners. You will coordinate the learner journey from enquiry and application through to enrolment, induction, progression and destination, working closely with schools, parents/carers, external agencies and internal curriculum teams. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and monitoring learner attendance, behaviour, achievement and progression.
- Coordinating reporting processes.
- Organising parent and school meetings.
- Providing high-quality administrative and pastoral support that enables learners to succeed.

This is a high-impact, varied role with a unique blend of coordination, safeguarding, partnership working and student support. You will:
- Act as the main welfare, pastoral and safeguarding contact for learners.
- Coordinate reporting, assessment and progression processes.
- Manage relationships with schools and partner organisations.
- Support lecturers and student mentors to deliver outstanding provision.
- Monitor attendance, behaviour, achievement and destinations.
- Attend and contribute to partnership meetings.
- Support cross-college initiatives and key learner events.

You will be a confident, organised and proactive professional, with experience in an administrative or coordination role, ideally within education. You will be passionate about supporting young people, particularly those who may face barriers to learning, and have the resilience, attention to detail and flexibility needed to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.
