A post has arisen for an HE Counsellor at our Northbrook College, based at our West Durrington site. The postholder will provide individual, confidential counselling to HE students ensuring that they receive timely and appropriate support to enable them to achieve their academic potential.

The postholder will promote and deliver the provision as a student‑centred service ensuring an effective and consistent service. You will work within the “Ethical Framework for Good Practice” as set out by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.

You will produce reports where relevant and by the requested deadline, share anonymised trends or concerns to inform policy improvements. You will work closely with the Safeguarding and Wellbeing Officer to ensure a coordinated response.

You will hold 5 GCSEs grade 4/C or above including English and maths as well as having a Diploma in Counselling/Psychotherapy. It is essential you have experience of working in university or college counselling services as well and counselling people with enduring or emerging mental health difficulties including suicidality and self‑harm.

You will have a current working knowledge of professional counselling standards and expectations as well as Microsoft applications including databases and website.
