As a Data Reliability Engineer I you will embark on a foundational career journey within our global DRE team, learning to ensure our critical database systems remain reliable, fast, and scalable. Moving away from traditional, reactive database administration, our mission is to proactively maintain and enhance the reliability, integrity, and performance of our data footprint. You will gain hands-on exposure to a diverse, modern GCP data ecosystem—spanning relational, NoSQL, and analytical platforms (including PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL, Spanner, and BigQuery). This role is specifically designed for an aspiring technologist with a broad interest in modern cloud databases who wants to transition from an academic environment into a well-rounded cloud data generalist.

What You’ll Do
- Monitor system health metrics under the guidance of senior team members to learn proactive incident management.
- Assist in resolving database-related incidents, diagnosing basic infrastructure issues, and conducting root-cause analysis.
- Support the tracking of performance metrics to ensure database speed and uptime meet application needs.
- Learn Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and CI/CD pipelines to safely manage database structures across environments.
- Contribute to automated database provisioning and schema migrations utilizing tools like Flyway.
- Maintain clear, up-to-date documentation regarding data systems, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
What You’ll Bring
- Possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Open to recent graduates or applicants with approximately 1–2 years of experience, which may include industrial placement years or internship.
- Demonstrate a keen, broad interest in modern cloud databases alongside a foundational understanding of relational and NoSQL concepts.
- Write or modify basic scripts using Python, Bash, or PowerShell to assist with operational automation tasks.
