This is a senior opportunity for a Financial Economist to take a leading position in regulatory finance, working at the intersection of economic policy, corporate finance, and infrastructure investment. You will play a key role in developing and influencing regulatory frameworks, advising on financial resilience and investment strategy, and engaging directly with regulators, government bodies, and global investors. Key Responsibilities- Lead the development of regulatory finance policy, including cost of capital, risk and return, and financial resilience frameworks
- Provide expert analysis and advice on corporate finance issues within a regulated environment
- Engage with regulators, government departments, and industry stakeholders to shape regulatory outcomes
- Act as a key point of contact for investors, credit rating agencies, and financial institutions, supporting market engagement
- Analyse financial performance, capital structures, and investment strategies across regulated entities
- Contribute to major regulatory reviews, consultations, and price control frameworks
- Translate complex financial and economic analysis into clear, strategic recommendations for senior stakeholders
- Support the broader debate on economic regulation and infrastructure finance at a national level
- Strong background in financial economics, corporate finance, or economic regulation
- Proven experience working within regulatory finance, ideally in a regulated utility, consultancy, financial institution, or regulatory body
- Deep understanding of cost of capital, investment frameworks, and financial risk within regulated environments
- Ability to analyse complex financial data and translate insights into policy or strategic recommendations
- Experience engaging with senior stakeholders, including regulators, investors, or government bodies
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise at senior level
- Academic background in economics, finance, or a related analytical discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Must have the right to work in the UK
