The team applies rigorous economic analysis to some of the most pressing social, environmental and economic questions facing policymakers today. As the consultancy continues to expand its analytical capabilities, they are seeking to appoint a Senior Economist to contribute to high-impact policy projects and lead complex economic analysis across a diverse portfolio of engagements.
RoleThe Senior Economist will play a key role in delivering economic analysis and policy insight across multiple projects, with particular emphasis on economic appraisal, cost-benefit analysis and programme evaluation. This position involves leading analytical workstreams, engaging directly with clients and stakeholders, and helping shape the direction of projects from design through to delivery. The role also offers the opportunity to mentor junior team members and contribute to the continued development of the consultancy’s analytical practice.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to economic analysis across a range of policy, appraisal and evaluation projects
- Support the development of economic appraisal and evaluation approaches, including cost-benefit analysis and impact assessment
- Apply quantitative techniques such as econometrics and quasi-experimental methods to analyse policy and economic questions
- Translate analytical findings into clear insights for a range of audiences, including non-technical stakeholders
- Assist with project delivery, helping to ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed timelines
- Contribute to proposals and business development activities where appropriate
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and engage with clients and stakeholders as part of project teams
- Support the development of research, analysis and written outputs across multiple engagements
- Experience applying economics in a consulting, public policy, government, research or analytical environment
- Knowledge of economic appraisal, cost-benefit analysis and policy evaluation approaches
- Experience using quantitative tools such as Excel, R, Python or Stata for data analysis or modelling
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain analytical concepts clearly
- Good organisational skills and the ability to contribute effectively to multiple projects
- An interest in public policy and the economic issues shaping government decision-making
- A postgraduate qualification in economics or a closely related discipline
