We are supporting the hire of a Healthcare Economist to join a growing advisory team delivering economic and financial analysis across complex healthcare and infrastructure projects. This role offers a blend of rigorous economic analysis, client‑facing responsibility and strategic influence, working closely with senior stakeholders to inform policy, investment and service design decisions. The position is UK‑based with hybrid working and flexibility around office location. The role is particularly suited to candidates with experience in public sector or NHS‑focused economic analysis, including the development of Green Book–compliant business cases.
Working at the heart of multi‑disciplinary consultancy teams, you will lead the development of Green Book‑aligned, evidence‑based investment appraisals, build robust economic and financial models, and support benefits management, benefits realisation and option appraisal processes that shape major healthcare infrastructure decisions.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver high‑quality economic and financial analysis across healthcare and infrastructure projects
- Manage and support project workstreams to ensure delivery to time, cost and quality
- Develop and lead Green Book–compliant business cases, including economic and financial cases
- Build, review and enhance economic and financial models, drawing on best‑practice techniques
- Lead and support benefits management, benefits realisation and value‑for‑money assessments
- Apply structured problem‑solving and initiative to complex analytical challenges
- Translate complex analysis into clear, accessible and evidence‑based insights for clients
- Draft and quality‑assure technical reports and governance papers
- Support and mentor junior team members, contributing to team success
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor
- Play an active role in business development, proposals and internal knowledge sharing
- Experience in health economics, applied economics or financial analysis, ideally within consultancy or the public sector
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills, including economic and financial modelling
- Experience working with NHS finance, public sector investment appraisal or major infrastructure business cases
- Familiarity with HMT Green Book principles and public sector business case development
- Ability to communicate complex technical analysis clearly to non‑technical audiences
- Strong project management, prioritisation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience with benefits management or evaluation frameworks is advantageous
