Job Description

Economist (Manager) – Up to £70,000 (dependent on experience) – London, United Kingdom (hybrid)

We’re supporting a specialist consultancy working at the forefront of a fast-evolving, high-tech sector. This growing firm delivers economic and strategic advice to clients across government and industry shaping regulation, guiding investment decisions, and informing public policy. You’ll take a lead role in delivering influential projects while contributing to the future direction of the business. Role

As a Manager, you’ll lead the delivery of complex consultancy work focusing particularly on public policy, regulatory frameworks, and strategic economics. You’ll oversee analytical design, stakeholder engagement, and project execution, while managing a team of bright economists and analysts.

You’ll draw on a mix of qualitative and quantitative approaches to generate insight and evidence that influences decisions across the public and private sectors. The role also involves supporting business development and contributing to internal capability-building.

Key Skills

Essential:

  • Substantial experience in public policy, regulatory consulting, or applied economic analysis
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multi-stream projects from end to end
  • Comfortable working with and presenting to senior public and private stakeholders
  • Skilled in translating evidence into practical policy or strategic advice
  • Strong team leadership and mentoring skills
  • Confident in navigating ambiguous or incomplete data sets

Desirable:

  • Background in economics or public policy (degree or equivalent experience)
  • Familiarity with HM Treasury Green Book/Magenta Book methodologies
  • Experience with economic modelling, evaluation, or impact assessments
  • Understanding of regulated or innovation-led sectors (e.g. space, telecoms, energy)
  • Knowledge of analytical tools such as R, Python, or Stata
  • Additional European language skills
