Reporting to the Operations Director, the newly created position of UK Transport Manager will play a key role in CHH’s successful service delivery to its growing list of UK Customers. The successful candidate can be based within easy commute from either our Birmingham or Chesterfield location.
Key duties will include:
- Managing a team of drivers across multiple sites within CHH’s distribution network.
- Supervising shipments and scheduling routes across the UK from Birmingham and Chesterfield sites.
- Planning operations and managing overhead and personnel requirements.
- Managing staff involved in transportation activities such as dispatching, routing and tracking.
- Monitoring transportation costs and maintaining records – license checks and training.
- Coordinating assets and operations for transportation.
- Ensuring all vehicles are properly maintained and always fit for purpose.
- Ensuring drivers act in accordance with all legislation.
- Managing key contacts within our customer base.
- Identifying areas of improvement and implementing strategies.
- Monitoring and auditing Health & Safety compliance, creating and implementing risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- Producing and presenting KPIs - setting and measuring financial and operational improvements.
Essential skills and attributes:
- Candidates MUST have recent experience in a Transport Manager capacity and hold a CPC.
- Strong understanding of legal compliance – drivers’ hours and WTD.
- Highly organised and efficient.
- IT literate and data – able to use data for optimal reporting as well as making informed decisions.
- Experienced in managing customer relationships.
- Clear evidence of leading and developing people.
- Highly organised and makes good use of time management.
- Agile – able to quickly provide appropriate solutions as problems present themselves.
