Host - About you

  • Experience in 4* or 5* hotel restaurants is desirable
  • Experience in high standards of face to face customer service is essential
  • Flexibility to work morning or evening shifts
  • Previous restaurant/F&B background would be advantageous in this role
  • Drive and passion to seek out opportunities to go above and beyond for our guests
  • Confidence, enthusiasm and passion for your work and communication with colleagues
  • A keen eye for detail, organisational skills and a flexible attitude

Aim of the Restaurant Host role

To assist the Restaurant Manager in controlling the flow into The Dining Room and be responsible for meeting and greeting each guest.

Responsibilities of the Restaurant Host

  • To be confident and fully competent in the usage of the Opera system
  • To show integrity and be intuitive with the control of service from lounge and bar areas into the Restaurant
  • To manage and optimise Lunch and Dinner covers through control of bookings, with special attention paid to timing slots and table allocations. Understanding flexibility and taking ownership of booking situations
  • Supporting the restaurant team with serving and clearing tables and taking orders
  • To take ownership and ensure the cashiering of bills with care are taken over correct charging to rooms, payment methods and any discounts given
  • To take pride in maintaining menus to a high standard of appearance and ensure dishes and prices are kept up to date
  • To take ownership and ensure standard operating procedures are maintained for billing, signing of bills and taking of payments throughout the service
  • Showing integrity report all comments/complaints/problems to the Restaurant or Assistant Restaurant Manager in charge
  • To be confident with guests’ names and their correct titles are used at all times & that the service is discrete & efficient at all times
  • All staff should be confident in understanding and executing the company’s policies and procedures with respect to privacy, confidentiality and data protection
