Our Commis Sommelier works as part of the Cliveden team to sell, serve and actively promote wine sales within the hotel, ensuring that all guests receive quality wine service to the Cliveden House standard.
Perform service in a professional manner and to the style specified by the Head Sommelier. Be fully conversant with the wine list, menus and beverage items in the hotel and provide a confident explanation if requested. Promote, describe, and upsell items. Be aware and confident of product knowledge of all services offered in the Hotel. Ensure that all guests' wishes are met as reasonably possible, showing passion and pride for the hotel.
Ensure mise en place in the Restaurant by understanding the importance of teamwork and flexibility within your role. Take ownership and ensure that all wines are transported to the Restaurant and that the wine station is clean and clear throughout the service. Liaise with the Sommelier team to ensure preparations and mise en place are correct and meet the standard set by the Company. Use guests' names at all times. Ensure service is discreet and efficient at all times using your integrity.
WSET Level 1 and/or Level 2 qualification would be advantageous.
