Position Summary

Chevron is seeking a visionary and results-driven leader to join our Commercial Analytics team. This high-impact role is pivotal in shaping the analytical strategy that underpins Chevron's global trading operations. The successful candidate will lead a team of analysts, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and cross-regional collaboration—driving greater value creation through actionable and profitable insights, as well as championing advanced digital tools and models.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire and lead a high-performing team of commercial analysts, setting clear expectations and cultivating a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and innovation.
  • Drive strategic insight by overseeing analysis of market fundamentals, pricing structures, trade flows, and competitor activity to inform trading strategies and unlock commercial opportunities.
  • Foster global collaboration by partnering with analysts and traders across Houston, San Ramon, Singapore, and London to align on arbitrage strategies, supply/demand modeling, and market positioning.
  • Advance analytical capabilities by guiding the development and deployment of deterministic and dynamic models that identify and quantify trading opportunities across physical and financial markets.
  • Champion digital innovation by promoting adoption of advanced analytics, machine learning, and predictive modeling, and AI to enhance trading performance and uncover untapped value.
  • Embed risk intelligence by integrating quantitative risk management methodologies into trading decisions and exposure strategies.
  • Promote continuous improvement by leading lookback reviews, evaluating forecast accuracy, and refining analytical approaches based on outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Applied Math, Data Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in energy trading, commodity markets, or commercial analytics.
  • Minimum 2 years of direct people leadership or team management experience.
  • Strong commercial judgment with the ability to translate complex data into actionable, trade-relevant recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to present market insights clearly to influence decisions at all levels.
  • Collaborative leader who thrives in a fast-paced, global trading environment with a digital-first mindset and passion for innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or MBA.
  • Proficiency in Excel and at least one of Python/SQL; experience with visualization tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Experience with advanced modeling platforms (Databricks, DataRobot, Dataiku).
  • Prior experience in a trading house, energy major, or commodity-focused analytics organization.
  • Cross-commodity expertise spanning crude, products, natural gas, LNG, or shipping.
