Salary:Hourly rate is dependent on qualifications and experience and will be discussed at interview.

You will be required to work 40 hours per week consisting of day or night work with occasional weekend work included.

About the role of Vegetation Management Operative

As a CGS Vegetation Management Operative you will be supported to achieve your potential and focus on the main responsibilities of your role. This role is exciting and will be varied throughout the year, depending on the season.

Responsibilities include:

  • Cyclical grass cutting between March and October
  • Grass cutting via the use of tractors with front and side arm flails, remote control bank mowers, ride on mowers, specialist machinery such as reforms and barrier mowers, and of course, brush cutters
  • Weed control
  • Tree and hedge work, whether that be hazardous tree removal, sign and CCTV clearance and hedgerow maintenance or reduction outside of bird nesting season
  • Path clearance
  • Planting schemes including complete de-vegetation of ditches or other infrastructures
  • Complete de vegetation for new structures and roads
  • Jet washing
  • Other ad-hoc tasks that help our clients.

Vegetation Management Operatives will work in a team under the guidance of a working supervisor to help deliver all contractual obligations to an exceptional standard.

What good looks like for a Vegetation Management Operative

  • You doNOTneed to be experienced in highways or vegetation management works, although it would be beneficial
  • We would like you to have a basic understanding of health & safety
  • Physically able and the ability to pass or already hold a Safety Critical Medical
  • Full UK driving license with less than 6 points

Beneficial qualifications/certificates, any of the below or their equivalent (training will be provided for the right candidates):

  • CSCS
  • ROLO
  • Lantra Tractor Driving
  • Lantra Arm Mounted Cutting Equipment / Flail
  • NPTC Chainsaw CS30, CS31a, CS31b, CS38 & CS39
  • NPTC Chainsaw from a MEWP CS47
  • NPTC Brushwood Chippers
  • IPAF – MEWPS
